Federal Partners Committee on Women and Trauma – 2013
A summary of federal programs designed to aid women and girls who have been exposed to trauma. Presents background on the problem, describing how women who have experienced violence and trauma, often from childhood, need substance abuse and mental health treatment services. Discusses the importance of implementing trauma-informed approaches across a wide variety of programs and services. Presents updates on how several federal agencies (and departments within the agencies) are addressing women and trauma. These include the U.S. Departments of Defense, Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Labor, and Veterans Affairs. Also included are the Peace Corps and White House Office on National Drug Control Policy.
