The Collaborative practice model for family recovery, safety and stability

Children and Family Futures – 2011

Describes the collaborative practice model for substance-involved families in the child welfare system. Outlines ten key system linkage elements for child welfare, substance abuse treatment, and juvenile dependency court professionals. They are: mission, underlying values, and principles of collaboration; screening and assessment; engagement and retention; services to children of parents with substance use disorders; working with the community and supporting families; efficient communication and information systems; budgeting and program sustainability; training and staff development; working with related agencies; joint accountability and shared outcomes. Report discusses each element and provides examples of their successful implementation. Also includes lists of resources for more information on each of the ten elements.
