NDAA drug-endangered children compilation

National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse, National District Attorneys Association – 2011

A compilation of U.S. state and territory statutes as well as federal legislation (updated March 2011) pertaining to drug endangered children. Provides a brief listing of each state’s relevant statutes, followed by the full text of each statute. Statutes primarily address child endangerment from parent/caretaker substance use and drug manufacturing (particularly methamphetamine). Many of the statutes include general definitions of child abuse and neglect, as well as those pertaining to exposure to drugs and drug activity. Several statutes address maternal use of drugs or alcohol during pregnancy and drug testing requirements for the mother and newborn. Many statutes also address mandatory reporting of child maltreatment and felony classifications and penalties for drug-related child endangerment.
