Children and Family Futures – 2011
A cross-system training plan for alcohol and drug treatment, child welfare, and probation professionals who work with children and families affected by substance use disorders. Discusses the importance of educating multidisciplinary partners in substance abuse, addiction, treatment, and recovery. Outlines curriculum and planning considerations for implementing this training module. The second component of the training is education on family recovery, including probation and the dependency drug court model. Covers such topics as child maltreatment, probation, treatment and referral, dependency drug courts, the SAFERR protocol, and cross-system communication. Outlines specific training opportunities and objectives for probation, alcohol and drug services, and children and family services personnel. Lists recommended training strategies, responsible parties, and resources needed for each.
