A fact sheet on historical trauma. Describes what historical trauma is and how it may manifest itself. Contains sections on common groups experiencing historical trauma. These are: American Indians/First Nations peoples, people of color, immigrants, and families experiencing intergenerational poverty. Provides facts on the specific type of historical trauma experienced, and lists examples of stressors and current manifestations for each group. Notes high rates of substance abuse, child abuse, and violence in Native populations and families experiencing intergenerational poverty. Includes resources for further information.
