Trying to come home: substance-exposed infants, mothers and family reunification

Huang, H. and Ryan, J.P.

Brief summary of a study on the impact of residential substance abuse treatment on family reunification. Parents in residential treatment combined with other community-based transitional support services (such as recovery homes) had the highest rates of reunification, followed by residential treatment-only. Parents in non-residential/other treatment had the lowest rates of reunification. Notes that less than one third of mothers receive both residential and transitional services.
